OUR VINEYARD STORY
ESTABLISHED IN 2014
Sparrow Hill Vineyard is located on the edge of the historic village of Weare on the Isle of Wedmore, the high ground between the Rivers Axe and Brue, overlooking the Somerset Levels to Axbridge and Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills beyond.
Sparrow Hill vineyard is a family-run vineyard producing exclusive single vineyard English still and sparkling wines. Set on 2 acres of gentle south-east facing slope, the three celebrated champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grape vines were planted by hand in 2014. The vines are hand-tended throughout the year by ourselves along with much appreciated help from friends and family. The grapes are then harvested by hand every year and depending on the season are produced into either still white and rosé or sparkling wines by Somerset’s well renowned and award winning winemaker Steve Brooksbank.
At Sparrow Hill, we aim to produce exclusive single vineyard low intervention wines, where we use minimal chemical intervention throughout the growing season and allow the natural biodiversity of the vineyard and its natural surroundings to flourish with the seasons.
Sparrow Hill Vineyard with its mineral-rich clay and fossilised limestone terroir, creates truly exclusive single vineyard and single vintage still and sparkling wines.
